Macon, Sixteen Years Later

Fast forward to February, and I was back in Macon for the first time in sixteen years, and this is what I saw. There were some fresh coats of paint, here and there.

The former bank building has a new business in it, which I learned was originally the Macon Building and Loan Association, later merging to become Citizens Bank and Trust Company.

The buildings next to it look largely the same.

The paint on this building has begun to flake off badly!

The business in here is new.

But then, what the heck?! That building I told you to remember is totally gone, as well as its neighbor to the east. What happened?! Was there a fire or something? At least the building to the east has been renovated; it didn’t have any windows back in 2008.

Nothing’s changed around the opera house.

We did discover a beautiful library north of downtown.

And there are several beautiful homes we spotted, as well.

And this simple but elegant Italianate house.
